Induction of bacterial flacherie disease in silkworm, Bombyx mori L. by iron deficient mulberry leaves

The mulberry, silkworm Bombyx mori L is a monophagous insect deriving all the nutrients required for its growth from mulberry leaf. The quality and quantity of silk produced depends on the quality leaves. Among the various factors influencing a successful cocoon crop, about 38.1 per cent is contributed by leaf quality alone (Tomy Philip and Govindaiah, 1993).
