Innovation in Australian industry: the latest data

Alan Jones provides some of the background to establishing the ABS Innovation Survey 2003,and summarises the results of the latest survey,especially noting that business expenditure on R&D is only one-third of that on total innovation.Compared to 1991-94,the proportion of businesses in the petroleum,coal,chemical and associated products sector introducing new or improved goods and services or processes has reduced substantially.
