Since the introduction of Reinert and Cundall's(1982)procedure for the surgical implantation of radio transmitters, their paper has been cited extensively and has become the standard surgical implantation procedure for snakes(Table 1). However, a recent suggestion(Bryant et al. 2010)for modifying Reinert and Cundall's(1982)procedure requires an additional step for suturing and anchoring a transmitter to a rib and its pre- and post-intercostal musculature. Such modification(in our opinion)seems more invasive than necessary and might be avoided by simply revisiting the surgical implantation method and transmitter preparation described in Reinert and Cundall(1982)and Reinert(1992).
