Chemistry performance

Chemical sciences, hereafter referred to as 'chemistry', was one of 22 fields of research, according to the Australian and New Zealand Standard Research Classification system, evaluated by the Australian Research Council (ARC) as part of the 2010 ERA exercise (www.arc.gov.au/era/era_2010/ outcomes_2010.htm). Twenty-six of apossible 39 universities submitted 86 units of evaluation in the chemistry field in up to eight chemistry subdisciplines. Units of evaluation for chemistry represent around 4% of more than 2400 submitted overall by 39 institutions, assessed using a quality rating scale, at a total estimated cost to the higher education system of at least $100 million.
