I am pleased to announce the appointment of four new Associate Editors to AJC: Manabu Abe (Hiroshima), Jonathan White (Melbourne), Evan Bieske (Melbourne) and Michelle Coote (ANU). A short, high-yielding synthesis of 1-(benzothiazolylamino)methyl-2-naphthols is reported by Anil Kumar et al. (Pilani). The one-pot condensation of 2-naphthol, aldehydes and 2-aminobenzothiazole in water is catalysed by sodium dodecyl sulfate. The reaction is believed to take place via a reactive naphthoquinone methide o-QM.
