Cleansing leaks from toxic tips

Researchers at the CRC for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment (CRC CARE), led by Professor 'Vigi' Vigneswaran of the University of Technology Sydney, are developing a relatively low-cost solution to the problem of poisonous fluids leaching out of old rubbish dumps and entering the groundwater. Contamination can consist of old industrial and household chemicals, solvents and oils, antibiotics and endocrine disrupters, medical drugs, personal care products, biological pollutants and heavy metals.
