Asbjorn,who died suddenly on 5 February,was born in Al in the Hallingdal Valley,Norway,on 6 June 1929.He completed his graduate qualification Cand.grad.in chemistry and mathematics in 1954 and his postgraduate qualification Cand.real.in 1957 at Oslo University.During his university course,he completed his army national service in occupied Germany and this was where he met his future wife Eva.
