摘要

The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) team have a very good reason for wanting to move their headquarters. Thanks to global warming a large chunk of the 150m thick Brunt Ice Shelf is expected to break off and float away taking them with it. So a competition was launched two years ago to come up with a design for the new BAS station Halley VI. Consulting engineers Faber Maunsell and Hugh Broughton Architects came up with a dazzling array of futuristic features and duly got the job.
