Mark Humphrey and co-workers in the Department of Chemistry and Laser Physics Centre at the ANU,together with colleagues at the Katholieke Universitat Leuven in Belgium and RIKEN in Japan,have carried out comprehensive electrochemical,linear optical and nonlinear optical studies of metal alkynyl dendrimers such as the example shown in the figure(Cifuentes M.P.,Powell C.E.,Morrall J.P.et al.J.Am.Chan.Soc.2006,128,10819-32).There is intense current interest in molecular non-linear optical(NLO)materials,but most studies thus far have considered organic molecules.
