Some bull producers have caught onto a seldom-used marketing advantage. They advertise the age of every bull's dam, listing that information as an important selection trait.This involves a mind shift, says Dr. Dave Daley, professor of animal science and associate dean of the College of Agriculture at California State University. Daley is a rancher himself and he says many commercial producers "get that" in terms of the mindshift he mentions.
