Beckwood Press Co is to manufacture a custom hydraulic press for the compression moulding of various composites by the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI). Awarded the contract by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Beckwood Press Co plans to finish construction of the 110-t press by September 2015. It will feature a work area of approximately 91 cm x 91 cm (36 inches x 36 inches) and integrated platens that will enable heating in multiple zones, enabling the precise control of temperature.
