HSE consults on excluding self employed metalworkers, HGV drivers from HSW Act

The HSE has launched a consultation on the proposed exemption of most self employed people from health and safety law. The consultative document includes a list of "prescribed" activities-those that will still be covered by Section 3(2) of the Health and Safety at Work Act. The exemption was proposed by Professor Ragnar Lofstedt in his 2011 report for the government, Reclaiming Health and Safety for All.
