A manufacturer of kayak boats convicted of corporate manslaughter after a maintenance worker was burned to death inside a moulding oven has been fined 200,000 pounds. A company director was handed a suspended jail sentence and 25,000 pounds fine. Alan Catterall was a supervisor at Pyranha Mouldings' factory in Runcorn, Cheshire. On 23 December 2010, one of the kayak moulding ovens developed a fault. It was put out of service while the fault was fixed. An operator then turned the oven back on. But Catterall was still inside, scraping dripped plastic from the oven floor.
