Promoting occupational health (OH) is good business sense, not an altruistic endeavour, said Lawrence Waterman, who led on health and safety for the Olympic Delivery Authority and is now health and safety director on the Battersea Power Station redevelopment. "There is a business case and a safety case," he said. "Part of the reason the Olympics was the first project without a fatal accident was because the occupational health programme increased engagement between managers and the workforce. When you engage on health, you start conversations that also look at safety."
