An incident in which a ride-on cleaning machine hit a barrier at Stansted Airport after its brakes failed has cost the facilities arm of business services group ISS and its maintenance contractor more than 50,000 pounds. Carl Marshall was forced to veer into a central dividing balustrade at the airport to avoid hitting pedestrians when the brakes on the scrubber drier machine did not respond.
