The safety challenges facing City Link may count among the more persistent and hard to manage, from loading and handling operations on the depot side to the uncontrolled risks drivers face off-site. But innovative training and a substantial investment in safety enhancements to its fleet have brought about a significant cut in the parcel delivery firm's accident figures. Over the past 12 months, a large-scale project to retrofit safety features to City Link's fleet of vans has seen an impressive reduction in falls from vehicles.
