Bosses must meet fit note failures head on

A LEADING medical expert has told employers to "stop complaining and be proactive" after the latest fit note survey suggested the system is still failing to impress organisations and has had little impact on absence levels. A report from human resources website XpertHR, based on responses from 212 organisations, found that fit notes have not helped to facilitate an earlier return to work in any cases at 36% of employers, while 65% said it has not helped in any way to reduce overall ill health absence.
