THE advice to professional drivers has always been clear; take a break before tiredness sets in. But how long can drivers go without breaks and what happens if they stop to carry out other work? Does that count as a break? To help drivers understand the rules on driving hours and the tachographs which record their speed, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) has produced a much-needed explanation in DVD format.
