摘要

IF ANY OF us could accurately predict the future, we wouldn't have to work for a living. But there are some things to come that are more predictable than others, especially if you are in the right place. With this in mind, we asked some leading lights in the health and safety world what issues they expect or hope to dominate 2007. Unsurprisingly, since legislation is the backbone of any year's agenda - and is easiest to predict without a crystal ball - it is the most common theme in our experts' contributions. Most expect the Corporate Manslaughter Bill, currently in its final parliamentary stages, to make an impact, even if it does not pay off in corporate prosecutions for a while. As Janet Asherson of the CBI notes, it is likely to focus the minds of senior management in many businesses on the need for clear audit trails of all health and safety management systems and to ensure any shortcomings brought to their attention are remedied.
