WORKERS in almost every industry are exposed to hazards that could cause serious or even permanent head and eye injuries. The right protective equipment is essential to ensuring that these risks are minimised and that the workplace environment is compliant with the latest health and safety legislation. In all industries where personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, employers are responsible for checking the effectiveness of all PPE and - as far as possible - ensuring that workers use it in the appropriate environments. PPE not only needs to be fit for purpose and comply with the required safety standards, but also be comfortable for the user.
