The article below shows that representatives of various social sciences and humanities agree that contemporary Russian society is undergoing a systemic spiritual degradation. One of its main manifestations is ageism, i.e., the mutual negative perception of the younger and older generations, primarily, aggressive disrespect to the elderly by the young. Analyzing the main causes that form the moral makeup of contemporary Russian youth, among which "asocial socialization" is singled out in our schools and higher educational establishments, the author emphasizes that Russian society's attitude toward upbringing needs a radical change, neglect of which is fraught with destructive consequences.
