Many organisations believe that a crisis will not happen to them or that insurance alone will cover the cost and enable them to recover effectively from a loss or incident. Insurance is a key component of an overall Business Continuity Management (BCM) solution, but while it may provide for the financial aspects of a loss or incident, it does not provide a method to recover and rebuild an organisation - or win back customer confidence. The advice comes from the British Standards Institution (BSI) Business Information which, with the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) and Insight Consulting, have developed a guide establishing the BCM process, principles and terminology.
