HSE looks for 'step changes' in construction

EDUCATING EMPLOYEES and other operatives, the role of clients and the developments, the role of clients and the development of integrated teams are some of the key areas covered by a new HSE "action plan". The plan follows industry-wide responses to the HSE's Revitalising Health And Safety In Construction Discussion Document. HSE is continuing its pressure for a "step-change" in attitudes and working practices, and its "action plan" has 9 headings with nearly 50 individual action points. HSE says that the impact of "integrated teams" is overwhelmingly seen to be beneficial and that these teams must embrace improved health and safety performance. Integrated teams should provide more time to consider health and safety options, allowing safety to be "built in" and planned more effectively.
