The transition between school and work is a critical time and work placements play a key role in allowing young people to sample the world of work. At the same time, their youth and lack of experience can place them especially at risk. The HSE has produced this training pack so that schools and colleges can raise students' awareness of workplace risk before their first day at work. It is aimed at 14 to 18-year-old students and shows the risks they may face, as well as how to avoid injuring themselves or others.
