Russia's sociodemographic situation and prospects for development versus european and other countries around the world

One of today's most urgent problems and most important tasks for Russia is to eliminate its socioeconomic lag behind the world's developed nations. This article presents the results of a demographic dynamics analysis that reflects the socioeconomic living conditions of Russian citizens. By comparing analogous indicators for Russia, on the one hand, and for primarily European nations, on the other hand, the author shows convincingly, using the linear regression method, that the current pace at which the sociodemographic situation is improving in Russia is insufficient for bridging the gap between Russia and the world's developed nations.
