Traditional economics promulgated the fiction that management doesn't matter. In that fable, a company was a bundle of technologies, contracts, assets, and so forth, and managers were as interchangeable as parts. When an executive (or anyone) behaved in an economically irrational manner, it was only because he or she did not have perfect information.
