Experiences in determining macro-cleanliness of bearing steels by application of ultrasonic immersion technique

Determining macro-cleanliness of bearing steels by means of ultrasonic immersion technique has gained increased importance in comparison with conventional two-dimensional testing methods. In order to get reliable and comparable test results,standardization of testing and evaluation is indispensable and therefore the influencing parameters should be well known. The present paper deals with a number of parameters influencing the test results by means of practical investigations and points outthe problems concerning an uniform valuation.
