Marathon Delays Completion of Detroit Refinery Project to Mid-2012

Houston-based integrated oil company Marathon said Feb. 3 that its heavy oil upgrading project at its Detroit refinery will not startup until the middle of 2012 and the cost of the project has climbed 15%, to $2.2 billion due to the deferral and a change in scope to process heavier and higher acidic crudes.
