Tesoro Sues CARB for Increasing Ethanol Content in Gasoline to 10%

Tesoro Refining & Marketing announced Sept. 30 that it filed a lawsuit against the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on new regulation that would increase the ethanol content in gasoline from 5.7%, to 10%. Tesoro also sought a temporary injunction against the rule while the lawsuit is being heard, the company said. CARB finalized on Aug. 29 the regulation for California Phase 3 reformulated gasoline (CaRFG3), which is effective Jan. 1, 2010 (see OW 06/16/2008).
