'Generally Favorable' Conditions, Increased Refining Margins Push Total's 2007 Earnings Above ?13 Billion

While many oil companies reported lower refining margins in 2007 due to record high oil prices, particularly in the fourth quarter, French oil major Total said its 2007 margins were better than in 2006. The increased margins along with "generally favorable" market conditions helped increase Total's 2007 earnings 12%, to ?13.2 billion (U.S. $19.2 billion).
