La. Citizens' Group Files Lawsuit against Murphy Oil

A Louisiana citizens' group, Concerned Citizens Around Murphy (CCAM), has filed a federal lawsuit against Murphy Oil Corp. alleging repeated violations of the U.S. Clean Air Act at Murphy's Meraux, La., refinery.The lawsuit seeks to force the company to operate the 120,000 b/d refinery in compliance with permitted pollution limits. The group also seeks fines of $32,500 per day for Clean Air Act violations, to be paid to the U.S. Treasury.
