Low distillate inventories and comparatively strong gasoline stocks, even in the driving season, pushed the gasoline futures contract below heating oil prices. The price of the front-month gasoline contract was pegged at around 1.525/gal on June 9, about 7 c/gal below that of the heating oil contract.
