SENATE EPW COMMITTEE SHOOTS DOWN 'GAS PRICE ACT'

A GOP-backed proposal to expand refining capacity in the U.S. failed to pass through the Senate Environment & Public Works (EPW) Committee last week.The "GAS Price Act of 2005" was shot down by a 9-9 vote yesterday, with Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-R.I.) breaking partisan voting to defeat the bill. Vermont Sen. Jim Jeffords (I) also voted against the bill (S. 1772).
