After 18 years of negotiations, Russia finally concluded its accession process in 2011 and will be welcomed into the WTO once its membership deal is ratified by the Russian parliament. These were the longest negotiations of their kind in the history of the WTO and they resulted in a Working Party report of more than 1,400 pages. This document constitutes Russia's terms of entry into the WTO, the result of a tough and successful engagement between Russia and WTO members.The accession of Russia is a win-win deal. It will cement Russia's integration into the global economy and will bring greater certainty and stability to business operators and trading partners. It marks the biggest step forward in world trade opening since China joined the WTO a decade ago.
