AN IMPROVED FINGERPRINT MATCHING ALGORITHM USING MINUTIAE AND RIDGE IMAGE FEAUTES

摘要

A novel fingerprint matching algorithm combining the minutiae and ridge image features is proposed in this paper. It utilizes two distinct sets of fingerprint information, minutiae and ridge image to perform the matching. Ridge-based matching is used as a way to check the minutiae-based matching results in our proposed hierachical matching method. Experimental results demonstrate that using ridge image in conjunction with minutiae has reduced the false matching and increased robustness, especially in those condition with small overlapped area and non-linear deformation between two fingerprint images.
