About 30% of all the electricity generated in the world is used in electric motors. A significant part of this is in pump and fan (fluid handling) applications. The estimated energy savings potential, if all motors capable of being equipped with a frequency converter (drive) were equipped is about 20-30% of the energy used i.e. about 10% of the world electricity consumption - a significant number.
