Water & wastewater: Improving the process of auto-desludging

At a wastewater treatment site in North Wales, UK, engineers found that the timer-controlled valves used to auto-desludge the primary tanks were both hard to control and producing inconsistent sludge quality. Looking to achieve both quality and continuous flow rates in abrasive sewage sludge pumping and other similar applications, the plant decided to install Watson-Marlow Bredel's SPX50 hose pumps.
