Situated near Mur de Bretagne in the heartland of the Brittany region in France is the brand new poultry processing facility of Boscher Volailles. Owned by the Glon group, Boscher has a clear vision targeting the industrial market. Stork Poultry Processing built the state-of-the-art facility. "We are not producing for the retail market, and this is a strategic choice," says general manager Paul Lopez of Boscher Volailles in Mur de Bretagne, France. "For many years we supplied poultry products to thedomestic French market, like everybody else did. However, we realised that we had to make a strategic plan. As a result, in 2003 we began producing for the industrial market. This turned out to be a good choice and we expanded our business in 2008 to itscurrent size." Lopez continued in saying that a brand new factory was built beside the processing plant, which had been in operation since 1991. The investment cost approx. EUR 30 million in the 15,500 sq. m. facility. The entire processing line was supplied by Marel Stork Food Systems. The current capacity is 9,000 birds per hour. "Based on five days per week and a 2-shift working day, we are able to produce roughly 500,000 birds per week," states Lopez.
