The development of quality management in the Opencast Mine Engineering centre of RWE Power AG

Decreasing prices for energy feedstock and intensifying price competition on opened energy markets caused steadily increasing competitive pressure on German lignite in the 1990s, so that the Rheinbraun AG searched for potential savings and structural, organizational and operational improvements for all divisions, including the Grefrath Main Workshop, the central repair workshop of the company. This inevitably resulted in a demand for further increasing quality, i.e. the prevention of errors, reduction in cost and adherence to delivery dates.
