It is well known that the key to obtain high solids content latices with low viscosity is the control of the particle size distribution (PSD). The particles in a perfectly mono-disperse latex will enter into contact at solids contents of approximately 64wt%. This explains why most industrial processes with relatively narrow particle size distribution usually operate at less than 55 wt% of solid content.
