The present invention concerns a process for obtaining low free monomer levels in an aqueous emulsion comprising a block copolymer, where the block copolymer is prepared with (reverse) iodine transfer polymerisation, the aqueous emulsion comprising a block copolymer obtained by the process and the use of the aqueous emulsion for coating compositions.
