摘要

This patent describes an epoxy-functional polymer formed from the reaction of one or more terpenes (eg α-pinene, β-pinene, limonene or turpentine) and one or more epoxy-functional monomers (eg glycidyl (meth)acrylates) and other monomers. The terpene and epoxy-functional monomer can be polymerised by free radical polymerisation — suitable initiators are the thermal free radical initiators, eg hydrogen peroxide, benzoyl peroxides and various azo initiators. Polymers can also be prepared by grafting terpene onto an epoxy-functional monomer or by functionalising the terpene and converting to an epoxy.
