There is current interest in automotive finishing to reduce the number of curing processes (in order to save energy costs). However, attempts to achieve this have resulted in problems such as poor chip resistance, poor adhesion to the electrocoat or between the basecoat and clearcoat. Other problems may be poor solvent resistance, water resistance or durability.
