This paper discusses the effects of egg weight, egg composition and early nutrition on broiler performance. The paper is divided into sections entitled "Egg and chick composition", "Performance and egg of origin", "Yolk sac utilisation", "Nutrient metabolism in the newly hatched chick", "Embryonic transition to the independent chick", "Post-hatch variables" and "Early under nutrition and muscle growth".
