Canadian fisheries society develops sterile and all-female kokanee for sports fishery

The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (FFSBC) was created as an independent, non-profit organization with the mandate to provide fish culture, science and marketing services that support freshwater recreational fishing and the conservation and restoration of wild freshwater fish in British Columbia, Canada. Over the last 15 years most jurisdictions in North America have been observing a downward trend in fishing license sales. In order to reverse this trend and ensure a thriving recreational fishery, FFSBC is developing new freshwater stocks and technologies to provide anglers with a diversity of angling opportunity and to help conserve native fish populations.
