Dwindling whitefish stocks the focus of New Youk hatchery

Once upon a time there used to be round whitefish in about 70 water bodies in the United States'Adirondack Mountains. Now there are only seven. But steps are being taken through New York State s Oneida hatchery to bring the formerly-plentiful stocks back again. According to assistant hatchery manager Carl Rathje, during the early 1900s the fish were so popular for eating and so much sought-after that they were eventually over fished.
