Middle East PC firms face challenges from US, Chinese producers.

The shale gas boom in the US coupled with coal-to-olefins developments in China will have a major impact on Middle Eastern PC firms, who are currentiy experiencing a natural gas shortage following 20 years of expansion driven by an abundance of natural gas reserves. According to a report from consultancy Booz & Co., "As a result (of major expansions), the (Middle East) is projected to experience a sizeable-and-growing shortfall in natural gas for the coming years. Consequentiy, ethanesupply is not expected to grow significantiy and most of the anticipated supply is already committed to existing and new projects."
