Following a lull in condensate splitter interest in Asia since 2006, new plants have recently been built and new projects are being planned amid robust petrochemicals demand in the region, according to a report by FACTS Global Energy. Asian firms have traditionally built splitters to take hard-to-sell condensate, a byproduct of natural gas, off of the market; however, as more condensate is being produced and traded on the market, more of the units are being installed at the consuming end, FACTS noted. Splitters accounted for 30% of the traded condensate in Asia in 2000, rising to 50% in 2010, and the share is expected to jump to at least 70% in 2010.
