EIA report lowers forecasted oil prices and demand for the US.

According to the Short-Term Energy Oudook (STEO) by the EIA, WTI crude will average $95/bbl in H2 2012, with US refiners' cost of acquiring crude averaging $100/bbl and the 2013 cost of crude to be flat with this year's price. The average price is almost $ll/bbl lower than the previous STEO released last month, citing weaker economies and lower demand. The forecast assumes a 2.2% increase in US real gross domestic product, with a 2.4% increase forecast for next year. The oil demand for the US is predicted to decline 0.4%, or 70K b/d, to an average of 18.76MM b/d. Total consumption fell 3.7% inTQ 2012 from 1Q 2011. EIA predicts a 230K-b/d increase in liquid fuels consumption in H2 2012, a 1.2% year-on-year increase, while a 120K-b/d increase in 2013 oil demand will accompany a 30K-b/d reduction in gasoline demand and a 90K-b/d increase in fuel oil demand. US crude oil production is forecast to average 6.3MM-b/d this year, a 600K-b/d increase over 2011 and marking the highest production level since 1998. 2013 production is predicted at 6.7MM b/d.
