EPA releases plan to revise industrial boiler's emissions limits.

The agency released on Dec. 2 its latest version of a proposal to reduce to emissions from industrial boilers. More flexibility will be provided under the changes and it will focus on just the top 1% emitters; furthermore, the original cost will be cut in half to $1.5B. According to the agency, it is proposing "more flexible compliance options for meeting the particle pollution and carbon monoxide limits." The changes will be finalized by spring of next year. "With this action, EPA is applying the right standards to the right boilers," commented Gina McCarthy, an assistant administrator at the EPA' Office of Air and Radiation.
